September Wrap Up

Let’s just agree to ignore the fact that there was no August Wrap Up. Honestly – not a lot happened in August except that the two of us got shipped to the Kimberley for a rural immersion experience – and immerse ourselves we didWe roasted marshmallows on a campfire built using our own bare hands (jks we wore gloves – s’mores are great but #safetyfirst,) made a circle of love with our camping pods (which later expanded into a rectangle of love,) went to the Derby Rodeo, and of course – ate at least one ice cream a day (it’s called thermoregulation, look it up.)

IMG_0357 IMG_0849 IMG_0359Shoutout to our friend Nishita who is an innocent bystander in these photos (yep there is an Anisha and a Nishita in our year – and it causes Nish to have a daily identity crisis)

We also had our Med Ball, where we all dressed to the nines and pretended we hadn’t seen everyone looking like cranky swamp trolls just a few weeks earlier.

As for September, all that happened was that we had 4 assignments due plus a bunch of placements requiring us to be awake at obscene hours.

On the bright side – we got to see Troye Sivan live!! He was an absolute ANGEL. IMG_0736 2

Note: I was on a re-reading BENDER (due to high stress levels) so most of these are technically rereads but they count okay? Okay.

    1. Hahaha idk…seeing everyone else’s wrap ups where they’re reading 20+ books kinda makes us feel like we’re failing as bookworms 😂

Thank you so much, Sophie – we hope you have a fabulous October as well!

  3. I’m so jealous you went to the Kimberly! I’ve been wanting to go there for YEARS. The camping pods look like fun! 😀 I’ve had the Lux series on my TBR for ages. I should really get around to reading it soon haha! ❤ Jen

    1. Hahaha we didn’t really get to go & visit any of the picturesque sites from the tourist brochures – after our weekend in Derby, we got shipped off to various remote sites & worked at schools & on farms. But it was still an incredible experience!

Pretty sure Nish has reread the Lux series so many times now she could recite the books in her sleep 😂

Thanks for reading & hope you have a lovely October!

  4. It looks like you girls had an EPIC couple of Months. Also, you guys were totally SLAYING in those dresses! Major heart eyes – gotta love a stunning ball gown! 😉

Also… I’m sorry didn’t love Again, But Better… Especially after I sorta recommended it… Eeek! It’s definitely the kind of book you either love or hate. I loved the characters and romance but was urber aware of the flaws. What’s disappointing is that it honestly could have been a better book with a few tweaks and edits. Also, I’m dying to know what you guys thought of that VERY left field mid-point plot twist. I’ll be looking out for your salty review! 😂

Good luck with your exams! ❤ Much love, your saltmate

    1. Trust us, looking semi-decent in those dresses took a LOT of work. Most of the time we both live in active wear (those Nish has zero claims of being active).

And only Ngoc has read Again, But Better but we discussed it in great detail (we are essentially the same human so all books one reads are basically read by both of us). We won’t give away too much from her future review but WHAT EVEN WAS THAT PLOT TWIST. The book could definitely have been written again, but better 😂 (sorry not sorry).

Thank you we need all the luck!!

      1. YAS GIRL – that was my EXACT reaction to that plot twist! I was like WHAT THE HECK?!?! Especially because they didn’t actually flesh out the rules/law of the twist if you get what I mean. After the midpoint it took me a HUGE chunk before I actually could get on board with the plot again. It felt super left field and not necessary? Shane was already doing college again, but better! Anyway – rant is now over. 😂

Living in active wear though is such a mood. It gives me the pretense that I am an actual healthy individual. Let’s face it – I can barely force myself to work out once a week! 😉

      2. It was SO left field – they made it very contemporary & then just dropped that on us & I know it’s been done by Suddenly 30 & When We First Met but I just don’t think it was explained very well in this book? And what was with the spirit guide?! 😂

Hahaha activewear is the BEST – so comfy & sucks in all my flabby parts 😛 What more could I want?! 😂

      3. RIGHT?!? Don’t get me wrong – i LOVE suddenly 30 and I definitely got those vibes but not in a good way. As you said, Suddenly 30 and When We First Met are marketed as urban fantasy so you KNOW it’s going to get magical. Also, they do a MUCH better job at selling said magic. Again, But Better just didn’t work.

Had the book be purely about Shane’s second chance at college minus the whole plot twist I would have enjoyed it more.

And yes – that spirit guide was even MORE left field! Like WTF?!?!?! Can we please get an explanation??? 😂

        Your Saltmate ❤

      4. OHMYGOSH YES!!! I’m so glad you felt that way as well! I was telling Nish that Again, But Better was like a bad version of Suddenly 30 😂 Same here! I totally would’ve enjoyed it more if it had been written like that…maybe the actual BOOK can be written again, but better? 😂

RIIIIIIGHT?! Ah, I feel so much better about this after talking to you hahaha 😛

  5. Oooh going to the Kimberley must have been such a great experience!!!

Y’all look so gorgeous in those gowns 😍😍😍😍😍

I NEED TO REREAD MARA DYER SO BADLY (so I can finish the series 🙈)!!!!! And I’ve gotta get to The Lady’s Guide so yayyy so glad you loved that!

Sending all the good vibes for the exams 💖💖💖 I have a town of assessments due and a presentation so I totally feel you.

And thank you for the shout out 🤧 I love you both so much!!!!

    1. It was definitely an eye-opening experience getting to spend time with remote communities & understanding how much we take things for granted in Perth!

OHMYGOSH YESSSS DO ITTTT!!! This year would be perfect for that as well because the last Noah Shaw book will be out so you can just binge read the whole series! 😍 And YES Felicity kicked ass in Lady’s Guide – can’t wait to hear what you think!

Awww best of luck for your assessments & your presentation Lauren!! We’ve got all our fingers crossed for you 😘

AND WE LOVE YOU & YOUR BLOG MORE!!

  7. I’ve never roasted marshmallows on a campfire. I’ve never roasted marshmallows anywhere… I’ll go buy a pack and roast them on the stove! 😀 Love the photos, seems like you had a very fun August (and less fun September with all the assignments).

Good luck with the exams! I hope everything goes smoothly. Don’t forget to eat tons of chocolate. Exams are a perfect excuse to consume abnormal amounts of chocolate. Mmmh… 😀

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Ohmygosh you should totally do that!!! Honestly the roasting over a campfire is just all about the aesthetics – it’s just as fun to do it over the stove & there’s 100% less chance of singeing your eyebrows 😂

Awww thank you so much Alex!! Don’t worry, we’ve got the chocolate aspect of exam revision covered 😉

  8. Aww.. it looks like you had a really nice time at your rural immersion experience!! I mean roasting marshmallows and ice cream sounds wonderful!! Also you both look so beautiful at your Med ball– I hope you had a wonderful time!! I bet seeing Troye Sivan was amazing too!! *heart eyes*
I absolutely love the Prisoner of Azkaban– it is probably one of my favourite Harry Potter books!! I have heard of a lot of mixed things about Again, but Better and I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy it. From what I’ve seen it doesn’t look like one I will enjoy either!!
Best of luck with your exams!!! ❤ and Happy October!!

    1. Hehehe roasting marshmallows was a blast, and we definitely used the trip as an excuse to throw our diets out the window 😛 Awww thank you so much! AND YES, TROYE WAS AMAZING!! 😍

Goblet of Fire is actually my fave HP book, but every time I re-read the series, I find it harder to decide which one I like the most 😂

Yeah – I thought I was alone in my thoughts since Christine is so popular, but when I saw the other GR reviews, I saw that quite a lot of people felt the same way 😬

Thank you so much!! Hope you’re having a wonderful October so far as well! ☺️

Yes it is hard to pick a favourite, I think Goblet of Fire is my second fav but like you I love them all in their way!!
Yes I think it had some flaws which is a shame!!
        Thank you 💛

Thank you so much for mentioning my post! I’m very happy that y’all enjoyed it, because it was one of the most fun posts I’ve ever written.
